Ann Bell is a great writers, but this was a slow read for me. I had trouble sticking with it...but maybe the next one in the series will be better (Montana Skies).

Altho this is 4 stories, the main characters carry over into each of the next stories in the series. Heroines are ordinary people facing mountains of trouble. A good read.
This book does show some signs of wear but is still very readable.

Maybe it depends upon the age of the reader, but I loved the characters and messages in these four books. I did not find it slow, like another reviewer. These are not action novels, but have a warmth similar to Jan Karon's Mitford stories.
Edith thought she had made a mistake ending her teaching career when she did, but this book is a wonderful example of how we do not always know what is best for us in our lives. God had marvelous plans for Edith's new found time that not only impacted her life richly, but the other lives she touches in the continuing stories.
Wonderful characters, warmth, and hope radiate through these stories. I highly recommend them and hope Montana Skies will be as uplifting.
