The story is loaded with magic creatures, a magic sofa, witches-secretaries and man-eating cadavers, and features Merlin, a magician by the name of Christobal Junta. (with references to an amnesiac cat who cannot manage to tell a fairy-tale nor sing a song; a talking fish; the Witch Naina Gorynishna--all uniquely Russian)... and a computer programmer/researcher protagonist. (research was never caricatured more accurately, especially if you read the postscript... also, Science is Magic.)
