I enjoy this series a lot. It's just this low-key, small town police procedural. Over the course of the series quite a bit of time has passed, so this might not be the best place to start, but I think a new reader would figure it out. After reading them in order I feel like they're old friends to me now. I wish Bill Gastner didn't have to get old, I miss his ride-alongs with Guzman and his sage advice to her. I like how several of the plots including this one have centered around the Night Zone, it's an interesting concept and I like how Havill has developed it. Nice steady pacing, excellent dialogue, excellent sense of place.
