This is the 1st book I've read by this writer and as an avid mystery fan, the title was a grabber.
The setting is extremely appealing, Acadia National Park in ME, and policing of a crime there with combined forces including Park rangers is interesting and I expect accurate, as according to a jacket blurb, the author is the wife of a national Park Ranger.
The body of one of a small group of models working on a fashion shoot is pulled from the surf by an old Mainer who is digging crabs.
Jack Prester, a park investigator drives from Kansas in a pickup accompanied by his big black Lab, Maxx. Maxx is not exactly a police dog but has enough training to be very helpful at times. He is a bit of a character and his relationship with Jack provides humor throughout the story.
Jack tries to behave in a Christian manner but doesn't preach. He has a flaw that hampers his investigation. One of the models is an Australian and Jack's late wife was Australian. The beauty and accent of this woman hampers his objectivity. He has a fellow investigator, Ev. who is posing as a model to get an insiders view of what's going on with the director, other models, cameramen, etc.
I did not figure out who the killer was until the book's end.

The story line was definitely good. It kept me wondering and guessing the whole book...who did it? It was one of those books that you hate to put down, because you want to know what's going to happen next.

It does have some blood and gore mentioned, but not in very much detail. I was thankful for the no detail part.

I liked the insight into the life of models. I love learning about new subjects and this one was intriguing.

I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy action and don't mind a little (very little) gore mentioned. Moody Press has some wonderful videos out there. This is the first fiction book I've read of theirs. I was impressed by the quality.
