I really enjoyed this book. Was great learning more about the sun king's mistress. I can only imagine living in that time and I would hope to be a maid in the royal household, if I had to be a maid anywhere. I did however, feel she ended the book abruptly, would have been nice to find out more of what happened to Louise one she left Princess Harriett's service. Sandra Gulland is fast becoming a favorite author of mine, if you love books about royalty you will enjoy this book.

This is one of the best stories I have read all year. I was throughly engrossed in the whole story. I liked the idea of having a hand-madien to help you get dressed and other things that seem to get in the way of just having fun.

Being a member of the Royal Court in the 1600's was no easy job. I can't believed how much they did without all the modern conveniences. I had such a good reaction to this story that I just have to assume that I was once a member of a Royal Court sometime in the past. LOL

I did not give this story 5 stars because it took me about half-way through before I had a reason to not put the book down and finish it in one sitting

I loved this book.If you like to read Historical Fiction this book will be for you.
I loved hearing all about Petite and what she endured in the court. This was a great love story between Petite and the King and what they had to do to hide their love.I did in the end hate the king for what he did to Petite by using her as his lover and going out with her friend.Sandra Gulland is now one of my favorite new authors I cant wait to read more by her.I also loved all the description she gave in the book it really made you feel like you were there. You also learned that the court was very backstabbing.I also liked hearing about Petite and her white horse. We also learned that the King felt Like Petite was an equal epically when he let her go with his men to go riding.I really didnt like Petites mother too much either.I thought it was funny when Petites mother married the nobleman after Petites dad died he was such a loser.I would highly recommend this book.
