I absolutely could not finish this book. There were so many misunderstandings and misleading interpretations between all of the characters that my mind bogled. The final straw was when Dashford accuses Evaline's financial advisor of getting another woman with child without naming names and an eavesdropping Evaline thinks he is talking about her. None of the accusations in this conversation were true. I just quit right then and there.
I thought this was a very entertaining and enjoyable book. It had lots of humor and the characters were interesting, including the secondary ones. The main character, Lord Dashford, has a best friend who has a story that follows this one called Damsel in Disguise. I read it first and really enjoyed that one also. I liked filling in some of the characters and references from that story with this one. A lot of DiD takes place at the same estate and involves the main characters from MbM. At the end of the second book, relationships are revealed that tie characters from the first and second books together. I look forward to reading the 3rd in the series. I think this book warrants a higher rating than it currently has. I rate it a 4 or 4 1/2, at least.
