I enjoyed Mildred Colvin's flowing, captivating style. With the first paragraph she hooks her readers, and her Missouri Brides Trilogy is no exception. Each novella, Cora, Eliza, and Deborah, is filled with charm, romance, and downright delightful storytelling. However, there is just enough action and intrigue to call these stories more than "simple, sweet romances".
The author's idea for Cora's novelette came after hearing stories about her own great-great grandmother's moving into the wilderness of Southern Missouri. Pioneers did purchase land in Cedar Country, Missouri for $1.25 an acre and started building homes in 1832

I really liked this book. You got attached to the charactors and felt what they were going through. It also was good to see examples of how these women made it through difficult situations by turning towards their faith in God.
