Set in the south and full of humor, Miss Julia's School of Beauty has Miss Julia upset over the possiblility that she and Sam are "living in sin". Was that quick little wedding chapel service legit and if not... Lordy, how will she able to hide it from her friends and Pastor Ledbetter! Great for the beach.

I love Miss Julia books. In this one, when Hazel Marie agrees to hold a beauty pageant to aid the local sheriff's department, Miss Julia, who detests beauty pageants, even gets into it when a young girl with little beauty but a sterling talent, needs Miss Julia's help and confidence to enter and do well.

Another fun romp through life with Miss Julia. Just back from a whirlwind marriage to Sam, she is coopted into helping with a beauty pageant, of all things, to help support the local police department. But when she comes to suspect that her marriage may not be legal, she bans Sam from her bedroom only to immediately worry that he's looking around for another love. Funny and warm, as Ross' Miss Julia books typically are, you equally sympathize and are exasperated with this Southern woman of a certain age, her foibles and her strengths.

When we last saw Miss Julia she and Sam had just eloped and honeymooned (with the rest of the family) at Dollywood. But naturally things don't go smoothly. Are they really married or has Miss Julia been LIVING IN SIN??? Thay Lord!!! Hazel Marie is asked to be the coordinator for a beauty pageant and asks Etta Mae Wiggins and Miss Julia to help her. Miss Julia hates having Etta Mae around since her matrimonial state has become unclear. Will it all get ironed out???

Another fun romp with Miss Julia and her quirky cast of characters. Miss Julia is pondering the legality of her marriage to Sam Murdoch while helping Hazel Marie organize a beauty pageant for the local Sheriff's dept. Once again this book does not disappoint Miss Julia fans. I love the antics of all the characters. Carol

This book is an enjoyable "comfortable" read. It's as good as the other Miss Julia books. The cast of characters is entertaining. The story carries you along. Perfect for a quiet week end.

Miss Julia books are about an older woman always getting into some kind of trouble. Miss Julia's School of Beauty is no different. After the quick marriage to Sam in Miss Julie Meets Her Match in book five of the series, there is a question of whether the marriage is legal. A famous country music star was married at the same chapel and the tabloids are saying the preacher was a fake. So Miss Julia is afraid that her marriage is a sham and the whole town will know. On top of it all, Hazel Marie has been asked to put on a beauty pageant to raise money for the police department. Miss Julie has to help, so she can keep Etta Mae Wiggins away from Sam who may not be her husband anymore.

This is a fun addition to the Miss Julia series. It is #6.

I love this series. Miss Julia is such a character, she is written so well you can just imagine her in your world! This is the 7th in the series and each one is stand alone reading, but really develops well when you read the entire set.

I like the characters but this one was ridiculous, shallow.

My friend and i always enjoy these books. it seems, in this one, to be a little more serious in that her marriage seems threatened. She is more a victim of circumstance than usual. usually she gets herself into trouble.this book was as enjoyable as the others, though.

Great book - more "goings-on" with Miss Julia. She and Sam thought they were married turns out they are not. But in the end they do quietly get married. Hazel Marie, Miss Julia and Etta Mae Wiggins are doing a beauty pagenant for the sheriff's dept. Funny book.

I love the Miss Julia series, but this has been my least favorite so far. I had to kind of skim to the end, it seemed to drag on and on. Hoping to enjoy Book 7 like I have Books 1-5!

The Miss Julia series as good for light reading and a laugh when you need one. The title character is a southern lady in her 60's with an unshakable sense of what is right and proper. And she's not afraid to let the reader know when it's not. The characters are colorful and well developed and the plots are fun to read even though you can probably figure out how it's going to end. Am enjoying this series very much and would recommend for light reading.

This was the book in the series I enjoyed the least - however, it was full of the same pleasant and endearing characters which I always like.
