While this was a vampire book, it was also a book on marriage and how it can change as the people in it do. I found that part of the story more interesting than the blood sucking. I was not expecting much from this beside a light read and I was pleasantly surprised.

To be honest, I could never get into the Dracula story in and of itself. I've read it, but it didn't engage me like other novels had. I would blame the style, but I've seen it done other places and liked it so I don't know. Maybe because it was very dry. However, Mina is anything but. It's much more engaging, and honestly, I read this one before I read the actual Dracula novel.

Very compelling "sequel" to the classic Dracula novel.
Interesting treatment of "what happened then?" following the end of the original Dracula story.
Took a little while to get into it and then it grabbed me and wouldn't let go! Very different from most vampire stories and quite enjoyable.
