my boys absolutely loved this book (even slept with it!). i know some parents have had concerns about maryanne (the steam shovel) becoming a boiler in the end, so if you have a sensitive child, this might not be the book for you. but i thought the ending was a touching way to reward the hard-working pair. if you can get the audio too, you won't regret it.
This was one of my favorite books as a kids, and now it is my sons favorite book. This is just a great story.

this book is a wonderful classic that teaches about friendship, loyalty and love among other things! Every child should read this book.
