It has been a long time since I read this book as a library book. What I do remember was loving the story. With the way it ended I sincerely hoped it would produce a sequel, but I have yet to see it.

Linda Chaikin is one of my favorite historical writers. She doesn't write about the same thing as other historical authors. Having the setting in a different country and yet still being a regency type novel, it adds to the story. The location becomes part of the story.

Vibrant details conveyed. I felt like I was in the snowfall described.

Enjoyed the book very much great story and good variety of characters. History and insight into the times. It did seem as though it was the first book in a series but as far as I can tell it is not. An abrupt and not so satisfying ending
