At first I would get bored with it, But don't give up it ends up being a page turner. I ended up really enjoying it.

Very good book. Gothic and has touches of Rosemary's Baby, Burnt Offerings, and probably some more books. Edge of the seat suspense, scary.

Good book to read, thrilling and captivating.

I liked this book. Sheer terror. Synopsis: A newly widowed woman raises her two children in New York City. She eventually remarries and moves into her new husband's residence in a spacious apartment on Manhattan's Central Park West. Soon, the terror begins.
John Saul's Midnight Voices is packed with bump-in-the-night chills that will frighten and delight readers with its nostalgic nod to urban legends and campfire tales. With short, edgy chapters and all-too-vivid imagery, Midnight Voices begs to be enjoyed in one sitting, in the dark, huddled on the corner of your couch. As usual in Saul's world, strange things are afoot in the city, and the Evans family is the target.
At the heart of this spooky tale are the children, Laurie and Ryan Evans, who are unwittingly exposed to danger when their recently widowed mother marries widower Anthony Fleming. The too-good-to-be-anything-but-evil Fleming lives in the Rockwell, a building rumored to be inhabited by witches and vampires, that has the children in the neighborhood terrified:
"Amber's eyes were still fixed on the building. They were just stories, she told herself once again. They weren't true. But even as she silently spoke the words to herself, a strange chill of apprehension ran through her and she turned away ... I'll die, she thought. If I go in there, I'll die."

a mother of two remarries after her husbands death, and moves into his apartment, where the other tenants act weirdly and strange things happen
This is John Saul at his best--good, old-fashioned scary! There's a tragic death, followed by a young wife and mother finding happiness again, but having to live in a spooky old apartment building, and then her children are terrorized. It was a great read.
This book was dark. I don't like books where children are hurt and they were hurt in this book. The book left me with a sick feeling in my stomache. I would not recommend it.
print too small--irritating!

Keeps you on the edge of your seat. Not easy to figure exactly what is really happening until the end.
This is a must for the horror lover! It is about some really bizarre neighbors and how a child's behavior changes after moving beside them. This is a perfect horror novel!
Great book Great Author
First John Saul I have read in a few years. Kind of reminded me of The Shining in a way. Starts out a little slow, but you have to keep reading to find out what is going on. Good read.
This book is about a man that got killed in the park and left his wife and 2 children and they moved into this brownstone that was full of older people and everything went down hill from there. Very good book.
Sorry, I couldn't get in to the book. I guess it wasn't what I thought it would be.
