My rating is more on the audiobook, than the story its self. The story was fine, but there was something off about the reader's voice this time. It was very distracting, and made it hard to get into the story.

This is absolutely one of her best of the shorter In Death series books. I exclusively listen to the audio books since the reader Susan Erickson makes the characters come alive. The only complaint I have about this book, that due to it's shorter length, the side characters weren't included as much as I would have liked, but again, shorter story, so...
The story is a real mystery since, there is no body, a woman goes missing but it is not the aforesaid dead person. The murder is committed on the ferry while it is enroute with over 3,000 crew and passengers. And yet somehow, the killer gets out the body and him/herself out of a public restroom, leaves no blood trail, and disappears off the ferry before it docks. Who's the victim, what's the motive, how did the body get off the ferry, what really happened to that missing woman, and why did the killer take the body in the first place? A lot of interesting questions and answers that do not disappoint.

Again, Eve must grapple with that grey line between justice and the law. I find the circumstances of the questions always interesting, no matter how many times it's used. Where is the line; it can sometimes be a perplexing puzzle.

I received this audio book from Paperback Swap and am really happy that I am able to find audio books on this site for such a low cost. The only downside regarding this purchase was the quality of the audio book itself. There was some static throughout because the discs were pretty scratched up. It was just on the line of playing properly. I would suggest to anyone considering purchasing an audio book on this site that if it is possible, contact the poster and try to ascertain the condition. I have bought two other audio books, though, and they were in great shape, so 2 out of 3 isn't bad.
