None of the NATO countries including the US were willing to send troops to support the rebels such as they had in Libya and Afghanistan and so the Syrian struggle has continued into 2013. Iraq was invaded by US troops when President GW Bush's intelligence organizations suspected that Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction. The Bush Administration feared Hussein would supply these weapons to terrorist organizations causing an enormous threat to the Free World, particularly to the US and European Union countries Al-Qaeda Conducted the 9-11 2001 US Attack. As a result the Bush Administration began the Afghanistan War to seek out and destroy Al-Qaeda?s means to launch other attacks against the Free World. President Obama's intelligence organization determined that Ben Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda, was living in a luxurious headquarters-house in Pakistan. President Obama ordered an elite Military group to attack Ben Laden?s headquarters and capture him if possible, or else to kill him. This elite team was successful in penetrating Ben Laden?s fortress with military helicopters, entering the headquarters and ending up killing Ben Laden and several of his aides. With Ben Laden?s demise the need for the Afghanistan War was diminished. Therefore the return home of NATO (including US) troops was planned for 2014.« less
