Michael Angeli (born August 29, 1961) is an American television writer and producer and a former celebrity profiler for such magazines as Playboy, Cosmopolitan, and Esquire. As a journalist, Angeli covered sports and pop culture for The New York Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Details, and Sports Illustrated. An advocate of the participatory journalism elevated by the late George Plimpton, Angeli's exploits included spending 24 hours in Central Park, trying out for in-line Roller Derby, and a six-game road trip with The Los Angeles Lakers.

His television credits include Now and Again, Cover Me, Medium, Monk, Touching Evil (U.S. version), In Plain Sight, Law & Order: SVU, ESPN's first drama, Playmakers, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and the Battlestar Galactica spin-off/prequel, Caprica. He is best known as a writer and co-executive producer for Syfy's remake of Battlestar Galactica

Angeli was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series in 2008 for his work on the Battlestar Galactica episode "Six of One". Angeli's wife, Karen plays classical piano and wrote the melody Gaeta sings in "Guess What's Coming to Dinner?", as a present to him. Angeli developed the lyrics for the song from the melody.

With NBCU's USA cable network, he is currently (2009-2010) developing a pilot for a new drama called John Q. Private. He presently (2009 -) serves as co-executive producer for USA Network's "Law & Order, Criminal Intent."

Angeli is a University of Wisconsin graduate with bachelor's degrees in English and psychology, along with a master's in creative writing. He is co-author of the autobiography of Chyna, a World Wrestling Federation performer a.k.a. Joanie Laurer. Angeli ghost-wrote the Rosanne Barr autobiography, "My Lives", and is credited on the fly page.
