I think I had higher expectations of this book. I love Evanovich's Plum books and this book just isn't a Plum book. I tried not to let this sway my judgement of this book but over all it kind of did. I wasn't able to fully get into the characters or the storyline. I think this was my issue, however, not the storyteller. The repetitive referal to Sam as NASCAR Guy kind of irritated me but not enough to stop me from finishing this book. I think over all the book was decent and interesting enough for me to pick up the second in the series.

Stephanie Plum and Alexandra Barnaby are similar characters. I wish Janet Evanovich had tried a bit harder to make them different. At times during my reading I would forget that this wasn't Stephanie. Overall however a very good book with moments of laugh out laughs and on the edge of your seat suspense.

Another series, another sleuth for Janet Evanovich! I found this to be a fun-filled read that I completed in two days! Evanovich's writing is entertaining and humorous, the kind that takes your mind off the serious things in your life and offers an escape to another world, this time Florida and Cuba. Don't get me wrong, there are some intense times with bullets flying and you wonder if the characters are going to make it, but, in the end, Alex Barnaby prevails and I am looking foward to reading the sequel, Motor Mouth.

This is a normal Evanovich book with funny, and implausible, situations. However, it is fun to read, and you want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next. As a dog ower, the scenes with the dog are sometimes quite hysterical.

"Metro Girl" is a good fun read. It made me laugh out loud or chuckle a good number of times and had just enough suspense to keep you going. The characters were unique, with the main character being a spunky, gutsy person out to rescue her brother & friends.

Alex soon discovers that her brother has gone missing with a recent Cuban immigrant who may or may not know the location of a warhead and a fortune in gold. Evanovitch writes about her heroine, Barney Barnaby frantically searching for her missing baby broth who drives on the NASCAR circuit. On the way she becomes involved with Sam Hooker, a NASCAR driver. I like everything Janet Evanovich has ever written, kand this is another of her screwball mysteries.
Fast action, usual excellent humorous writing. Pick it up and you won't be able to put it down. I love Janet Evanovich's writing.
I was very disappointed in this book. The characters were all parallel to those in the Stephanie Plum series (only with less substance) and the humor was pretty much nonexistent. I grew a little bored at the end with the technical descriptions regarding the cannister. I became bored and lost among all the boat and car mechanical descriptions as well. In comparison to the Stephanie Plum series, this novel was overall more action-packed but lacked in fun and witty humor.

This book offers the a quick pace and likeable heroine. Barney Barnaby is not the NJ mall girl that Stephanie Plum is, but she's got Stephanie's pizazz and certainly holds her own. The first in what looks to be a promising series. Full of humor and twists.

I liked this new series with Alexandra, it's somewhat similar to the Plum series. There seem to be toned done characters of Lula and Grandma Mazur but it's still a good read. Great author. :p

I went out before I left for vacation and bought this book, I cannot believe I waited so long to read this one! I read this book on my 7 hour car trip with my mom, sis, my 6 year old daughter and 2 dogs! I survived the trip and this book kept me entertained!! I cannot wait for Motor Mouth to come out!

A rolicking good time with a heroine nearly as endearing as the author's Stephanie Plum. I picked this up when I was stranded without my current book-in-process, and found it to be a quick read (just a few hours) and worth the time! Give it a whirl.

A riveting page-turner. I enjoyed it very much!
A quick and satisfying read. Some of the characters' actions are a little unbelievable and there are a couple of coincidences that seem a little too convenient...but these are forgivable flaws because the story is so engaging and the characters are really likeable and fun.

Another funny Evanovich book.
I don't know why I waited so long to get on the Alex Barnaby bandwagon--Janet Evanovich is witty and now I understand the hype! This is the start of a to-die-for series! Great characterization, fun innuendos, fast pace...this was a read-in-a-single day, couldn't put it down, romp through Florida that immediately made me want to pick up the sequel.
Too funny, and sexy, and interesting from cover to cover. Loved the characters. Another Evanovich hit!

Full of adventure
Another great adventure from Janet Evanovich. The book was captivating till the end.
This is the first J.E. book I read and, even though it took me a while to get into it, it had some truly hilarious moments. I became a fan after reading this book!
I read this after reading the Stephanie Plum series, and I found that this book follows the same formula...romance, crazy comical plots, funny secondary characters, and a horny male main character. I don't have a problem with this at all. In fact, this formula works great in the Stephanie Plum series, but I wasn't too crazy about it in this book. It was alright, but maybe I'm just too stuck on my Jersey girl (like me) Stephanie and her hot men, lol.
I am a fan of Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, and Metro Girl is right up there on that level. Very good book, I look forward to reading the sequel, Motor Mouth.
This is a funny mystery with some twists. Our bookclub read it as a fun summer read and it was a good choice.
I liked it, but this book isn't nearly as much fun as the Plum series.
I loved listening to this audio book on my way to work. Good humor.
The book opens with a mysterious phone call the Barney receives in the middle of the night from her brother Bill. Barney decides that she either must find Bill so the next morning she flies down to Florida in search of her missing brother. After she teams up with the Sexy Sam Hooker or NASCAR Guy as she refers to him often she finds herself in the middle of an adventure with non stop Action and many memorable characters
