The first third sets up the murder of a character introduced right away and then follows three characters off on a supposed lark that ends up in the discovery of the murdered man. This is a little trying to follow, but once Mrs. Bradley enters the story interest picks up and the detecting starts in earnest. A few non-politically-correct racial references pop up occasionally (circa 1950's thinking), but the book is entertaining and satisfying.
