Didn't like this, which is a shame. I really enjoyed "The Ancient One." Still one of my favorite books. But so much more could have been done with this story. The characters spend a good chunk of the book only TALKING about Merlin. And then, once Kate becomes part of this magical world, nothing exciting happens till the very end. Could have been written so much better. Could have been much more enjoyable.

This is soooo NOT a childrens-only book, I read alot of different things
and I am middle-aged; I enjoyed all his Merlin books very much as well.

Some folks think the C.S. Lewis books are children's books too, but they
are wonderful reading IMO even for a well-read college educated adult as
long as the person has an open mind. (An open Heart helps too !)

This is a gentle story and the book illustrates good values as well
as pointing out right vs. wrong and that it is important to do your best.

I recommend it as good light reading for adults and a worthy teaching tale
for younger folks.
