Second in the Destiny trilogy, this book continues David Mack's wonderful writing. I had to give this book one half star less than the first simply due to very last part of the book. It seems to me a long shot for a needed "reason" to keep two crews from getting knocked out of the story before the third and final book. Not that it wasn't believable, just unnecessary.

Even with that, the story has you during the development of Erika Hernandez and her crew while stuck on Axion. That story, could stand as a book on its own, is such a sad and desperate tale. You are left feeling for the bottled up crew (in more ways than one) and even more for Erika. David Mack writes wonderfully the stories of all, and each gets their own time to tells their tale with out being rushed.

I still don't like the Borg, I still feel as if the Borg plot has been overused. And true to most Star Trek writings/shows/movies, most every ship has been hopelessly crushed by the Borg. Sadly, to easily and much to quick to believe for my liking. For a side note, wormholes - yet another story crutch that has been overly used. I will say that David Mack uses it very well.

Still, a wonderful book non-the-less.
