I haven't decided if I really like Mercy or not. Sometimes she comes off as too hard. I haven't decided for sure. Also, the sheriff is not someone I can decide on. Same for their relationship. I'll read the next to see how this plays out and make my decision. The gist is Mercy is home from the Middle East as an army member because of an injury - she was a marksman shooter for the army and back on the ranch she grew up on. People begin to die and damage to property takes place and it turns out that her sister has been courted by someone who only wants the ranch and when it becomes apparent Mercy does not plan to sell, he holds her pregnant sister hostage for cash.
