My only complaint was that it was too short, I never want the book to end. I need more. I wait, what seems like forever for the next Dark Hunter book to arrive, and just that quickly I have read it and am waiting all over again. Lots of familiar players make appearances, I have missed them all, especially Simi. Dev is so funny I was laughing out loud, I completely get his sense of humor. And the plot thickens, what will Stryker do now? And what in the world is going on with Nick? Kenyon leaves us with so many questions, but that is what keeps us hooked and pacing around the mailbox waiting for the next book. I don't want to give any secrets away, so if you are a true Dark Hunter junkie....run to the bookstore and pick up a copy, I am keeping mine for my collection.

Once again Sherrilyn Kenyon has written an awesome book in the Dark Hunter Series. Each title I've read has always had the flair for who ever the main story was about, but the crew was all there. Picking up one of her titles is like having an outing with old friends. You know they're there because they're needed. I enjoyed it. I had been impatiently waiting for a copy and was in no way disappointed.

Definitely unputdownable. After the disappointed that was Stryker's story, I'm glad that Sherrilyn is back with her classic best. The stakes kep getting higher and higher for everyone in the DH worldand more and more secrets are getting spilled as great buildup for future books. Can't wait to read Redemption next year!

This is my favorite in the series thus far. An easy read and witty characters.

I love her books. I'm not sure if I'm suppose to laugh throughout them, but I do. Not a comedy, it's just how things are written that make me smile and giggle.
If you're following the series, you'll love it. This is one series, you cannot pick up in the middle, too much have happened over the years.

Loved it! Didn't think she could do it after Acheron but she did~!

I have loved this series since the beginning and have loved each book, some more than others and this one is no different, but I sense a change in me as I feel a shift to this series coming. Long time fans of this series already know the history of the characters so I wont rehash it here. My only gripe with this story and series overall is there was too much focus on the conflict between Ash and Nick. This story is supposed to be about Sam and Dev. I dont care much for the changes I am seeing in Nick and Im heartbroken at the relationship now occurring between Nick and Ash. Please stop rubbing my nose in it and resolve it already...
Now with that out of the way, I can focus on this story. I loved the pairing of Sam and Dev. I thought they were perfect for each other, both strong and fierce but both carrying deep pain and scars that make them vulnerable. And as Ive come to expect from this series, these two have great chemistry in and out of the bedroom. There is refreshing comedic banter and high adrenaline fight scenes.
Sam is not a typical Amazon warrior. Not only was she Queen but she was married, which is the exception to the norm. When she is betrayed and her husband and child are murdered in front of her, she sells her soul to Artemis as she lies dying and becomes an immortal Dark-Hunter. Fast forward 5,000 years to modern day New Orleans and she is now assigned to guard Nick as he is a high commodity now that hes becoming evil. When she meets Dev Peltier, they feel an instant connection and attraction though Sam thinks hes just a horn-dog. Shes right. He is. But, shes OK with it (and frankly, so was I). One of Sams powers is that she can pick up everything that has happened to someone just by touching something of theirs or something theyve touched. As a result, she has lived an existence all these years of one filled with pain, agony and heartbreak, reliving the painful events of others. Fortunately for Sam, she does not experience that when she touches Dev.
Dev has carried guilt most of his life as his mother blamed him for the death of his two brothers. Here is a guy who just wants to be accepted and loved, but who was rejected and blamed for something that wasnt his fault. Experiencing something like this would make the strongest of men very leery of relationships and very distrustful of people in general. Dev is a very easy man to like. His sarcastic wit and humor are great ice-breakers and Sam feels immediately at-ease when she meets him.
Sam becomes hunted by the Daimons when news of her abilities reaches their leader, Stryker. Hes hell-bent on finding a way to lift the curse of their race and find Apollos weakness so he can kill him and will use all means necessary to force her to help him. The Daimons have discovered a way that they can walk in the daylight, which will put the Dark-Hunters at an extreme disadvantage. As evil as Stryker is, I have a grudging respect for him. I dont know if he will ever be redeemed, but this character intrigues me. Savitar also makes an appearance in this book and, as always, I cant get enough of him either. I would really love to see him get his own story.
Though there are some unresolved issues between Sam and Dev at the end of the book, I found their story to be very good. I expect they will show up down the road in future books as these characters are prone to do. Overall, I highly recommend this series if you are looking for stories that make you smile, excite you, get your blood boiling and highly entertain you.

I loved this book, I was actually reading another book and received this book in the mail, I flipped through the first page and couldn't put it down. The main characters are witty and funny and very likable, and there is appearances from familiar characters, and new ones are introduced. The romance part is just the right amount and doesn't take from the plot. I can't wait for the next book. If you are new to the series, I suggest to start at least from Acheron story to be able to appreciate the rest of the books more.
I have been following the Dark-Hunter series for years. But I think this is the book that has convinced me to stop. Here we have the story of Dev, one of the Wise cracking, trash talking Peltier Bears and Amazon Dark-Hunter Sam Savage. Sam has the ability of pyschometry so anytime she touches something or someone, she sees their memories and feels their emotions. For this reason, she has not been intimate with anyone in years. But surprise, surprise. Somehow Dev seems to be immune to her and can also "cleanse" certain objects so that they don't affect her.
Now, Stryker wants to use her ability to help his cause. Demons want her dead (pretty thin plot). And the Hellchasers have imprisoned her for her own good???
And why is that?
Okay, I realize that this is fiction but the Dark-Hunter books USED to atleast have a believable plot and finale. This thing was just crazy...and not in a good way.
**Possible spoiler**
Is Sherrilyn Kenyon really writing these books now or has a Ghost Writer taken over?
Since when do you have a Dark-Hunter book with ONE little 5 second scene with Simi?
What was so special about Dev that he was immune to her powers? Sam wasn't the mate the Fates had made for Dev until later in the story and it was only done then as some sort of punishment. The actual mating was only mentioned as an after thought. And what was the purpose of getting the Girdle? It was never mentioned again after it was retrieved! It didn't help her any during the fight scene when the Demons attacked. And FLYING FIRE BREATHING MONKEYS???? Give me a break!!! This series has definitely Jumped the Shark. I'm getting out NOW. I may peek back in if Simi ever gets her book. Other than that, good-bye Dark-Hunter series.

Its been a while since Ive read any of Sherrilyn Kenyons Dark Hunter series. I stopped reading shortly after Acherons book because I felt each one is too similar to the one before, and I still feel that way a little because Devs character is somewhat flat, but it isnt the same monotone as it was before.
I remembered Samia from the little bit of Dream Warrior that I read, but liked seeing more of her character. I love that shes an Amazon; too few authors recognize Amazons as a real people. Right from the start, her character is detailed. Her approach to life is obvious in the aggressive way she rides her motorcycle. Dev is another story. Even though hes the hero, I didnt see a lot of character or development from him. I was more interested in Ethans character, and his relationship to Sam. My lack of interest in Dev might be because I was never taken with the bear or all of his siblings, but I still feel he was flat. He just didnt stand out like some of Kenyons other bad boys.
As the story progresses, their mating marks appear. Dev thinks the Fates are messed up for pairing a were-hunter with a Dark Hunter, but Kenyon doesnt give us anything other than that. No real background information. I would have loved to know what was going on behind the scene and why the Fates decided theyd be together. I feel it could be part of a larger story, but as it is I felt frustrated with the lack of background story which is a tell-tale part of Kenyons series.
As I mentioned before, I was interested in Ethan. Between him and Sam, Kenyon has created her own version of the Amazon culture that I can really appreciate. That culture also reveals a lot about both of their characters, and I loved the story between and behind the two of them. Even though its against the rules for Dark-Hunters to get involved with each otheror maybe because of thatI would rather have seen Sam paired with Ethan. I get that they were painted as not being compatible, but still
And last but not least, let me ask: whats up with Nick? Is it just that Ive been out of the world long enough that hes become some kind of whacked god or is that news to everyone? I guess thats what I get for skipping half a dozen books. Oh well. Overall, No Mercy is a decent read, if predictable.

I honestly don't know why I keep reading Kenyon's books. I used to love them years ago, but now they are so predictable. Basically, if you've read one, you've read them all. I think Kenyon needs to stop writing about Dark Hunters and start something fresh. I get the feeling she is burnt out, judging by how lack luster her writing has become.
Very good.
Somehow, her plots make a lot more sense now that Donald Trump is president.
This was one of my favorites in the series, Dev and Sam go through many obstacles before Sam is safe from Styker and the demons, but Styker does get his hands on Sam so he can use her powers to fine a way to brake the curse of his people and to kill his father Apollo, but what he learns pisses him off more then ever. Now we find out who is Artemis new whipping boy to get souls back of certain D.H.s that are friendliest to a tormented D.H./ Malachi.
This is an awesome book. You don't need to read this series in order. Thats whats great about them.
