Another good Lora Leigh breeds book! By the way, after reading this book, you'll probably be wondering what happens with the wholly despicable character named Alayia. For that, you'll want to be sure to read the follow-up story in The Magical Christmas Cat anthology. Without giving it away, let's just say that it's a satisfyingly permanent resolution!

I am a big fan of Lora's and I have to say that she just keeps getting better. This latest breed book is her best by far, with more emotion to go along with the suspense. I am usually not a paranormal romance reader, but Lora changed that for me. If you have not read any of her books give this one a try, or her other new one Wild Card, which is not a paranormal romance, but a romantic suspence novel. Wild Card would get 6 stars if it was available. Hot, emotional, and action packed. Loved, Loved, Loved them both!

This book is a keeper. It's the alpha male paranormal story I've been searching for. As much as I like Paperbackswap, I can't part with my copy of this story. Sometimes Lora Leigh's books are a hit or a miss, but she nailed it here. It's probably the best Breeds story.

I like alpha male heroes who are very alpha. Mercury Warrant is what an alpha male hero should be and he isn't the things that make other fictional alpha males so off-putting. He's definitely dominant, but not in a way that's disturbing or arrogant. He's erotic, loving, and considerate. He also thankfully comes without all the extra baggage of horrible abuse in the Breed Labs. While his upbringing with the scientists and soldiers wasn't all rainbows and flowers, he wasn't tortured like some of the other genetically altered humans at some of the other labs. Unfortunately, he has baggage in the sense he thinks his mate died when she was a teen. The heroine in the story has heard this, and doesn't think they can have a long-term relationship because she's not his true life mate.

The heroine is not your usual too stupid to live, weepy, spineless female who can't think for herself. She's competent, gutsy, quick witted, and not afraid to give into her desire to be with him. She doesn't do the usual "I'm not good enough for him" routine that so many other heroines do much to my frustration. She's also got a vulnerable side that only he can see. I loved the fact the heroine isn't a tall, gorgeous woman. She's definitely gorgeous to him, but when we first meet her, she's described as a bit plain. It's also refreshing that the hero and heroine don't spend the majority of the book arguing with each other over an attraction that's obvious to all. That's one plot device that so many authors in this genre use much too often. The scenes between Ria and Mercury are so sweet and touching. Leigh does a good job fleshing out two likable characters.

Some Breed books have good sections and rather boring sections that you just want to skip over. This book was well paced and plotted. It held my interest the whole way. I didn't want to skip ahead. There are some genuinely laugh out loud moments in the book especially when Rule Breaker and Lawe Justice talk to each other and others. Since this is a Lora Leigh Breeds book you know there are also several very steamy scenes. Emphasis on the "very". The scene in the office with the desk left me fanning myself. It's as good as the scene in Lover Unbound with Vishous and Jane at the sink. Ok, I KNOW that's a different author and a different series, but those of you who've read Lover Unbound know what I'm referring to. I know you're smiling too. :) Yeah, Mercury is the same way. That's all I can say on a family friendly site. Mercury is definitely one of Lora Leigh's greatest creations. He's one of those fictional characters that you wish would exist in real life. I would read another book just about him if Leigh would write it.

Read this book. It's worth losing a credit.

I'd been looking forward to Mercury's story since he was introduced and I was not disappointed!! I think that, to date, this is my favorite of Lora Leigh's Breed series. I like my Alpha's very Alpha and boy was he! If you like the others in the series then chances are you will love this one:)

Another installment in Lora Leigh's Feline Breeds series, as with the others in the series, the couple is overcome by mating heat and has seriously hot sex and falls in love. The characters are smart, sexy and easy to like. The romance is hot and the ending satisfying. The "mystery" that was secondary to the romance was limp and easy to predict.

Sooo, I couldn't get to sleep last night and made the mistake of starting this book instead. I didn't fall asleep til I finished it at 5:30 am.

This is the first book I've read in this series, and I was impressed by how well it introduces the reader to the Breeds' world, considering it's book 16. Some of the family ties are initially confusing; I pretty much found it safe to assume that anyone in charge of anything was one of Leo's sons. In general, though, it's easy to keep track.

There's a plot to the book, industrial espionage and betrayal and such, but it's usually in the backseat while the Ria-Mercury romance zips right along. I agree with another reviewer that Ria's whole 'he has a dead mate so he can never really love me' thing got old, but she had a believable backstory for that. I'm glad they didn't play star-crossed the whole time. Also, FYI, there is a LOT of sex here. Lots and lots. Good scenes, too, though I rolled my eyes at a lot of Merc's dirty talk.

Anyway, good stuff. I can see myself rereading it before swapping.

I collect these BREED books because of the totally hot sex in them... but they are hard to find, and never easy to trade for unlike other books of Lora Leigh. Hunky animal men who are wanting sex, and the writing tells us exactly how with their women.

Mercury's War is my favorite Lora Leigh book! Mercury's mate is intelligent, has a huge secret, and can defend her claim on Mercury!

While Leigh is known for her erotica, I actually prefer her Breed stories that contain more of a plot. This is one of those books and one of her better stories.

This is my third Breeds book and I am totally hooked! At first I thought it was going to be a shape shifter kind of thing similar to some of Christine Feehan's work, but I really enjoyed the spliced DNA twist. The female leads are strong, the secondary characters are engaging, and the males are just...WOW!!!

I totally fell in love with Mercury right along with Ria, and I seriously hope Dane gets his own story (if he doesn't have it already).

I highly recommend this book! However, a word to the wise: this book is HOT HOT HOT!!! The sex scenes are not for the faint of heart & if you're expecting all hearts and flowers then you may be shocked.

Happy Reading!

They tried to kill his lion when he was in the labs, and nothing can bring it back. Ria was the granddaughter of the Leo and has been sent to Sanctuary to find the traitor on the inside by her oldest uncle Dane. Once Mercury sees Ria his lion awakened but his lion will only come out when the man is unaware but he will come out once in a while since Ria didn't not create a mating heat in Mercury but since the beginning Ria feared Mercury will never lover her like a true mate will, so she is fighting her heart and him but he gets under her skin, Until he old mate comes back from the dead has Ria hurt, broken and betrayed by the lion that she had loved her all her heart. Mercury has to deal with not just Ria but the lioness the had feelings for in the labs, but also a traitor in house that had been selling mating information.

I liked this book, but not as much as everyone else seems to, I got sort of tired of hearing Ria go on about Merc losing his mate... that she would never be #1, well, I wanted to scream at her that no one loved anyone as much as he loved her, mate or not, good grief, who cares about past loves if you are "it" now... just got on my nerves about half way through!!!
