The only reason I even gave it such a high rating was because of Jill Shalvis's story. The other two was a disappointment. WARNING: Spoilers included.
Lori Foster's "An Honorable Man" disgusted me. I've always enjoyed most of her novels and I've been on and off about her short stories. It began okay but then throughout the story it seemed like kissing was a way to avoid any discussion about the relationship. It was okay once or twice but I think it happened every single scene together. Liv had such horrible self-esteem from being neglected by her father. At first, it seemed like Hamilton was on her side but really maybe he was just doing it to convince her for his own gain. Because all of a sudden, she took full responsibility for her father's neglect by saying she should have understood and he agreed. Please, her father was a patriot and a hero but he was a jerk of a father. She, in no way, should have been understanding about that. On top of that it seemed like Liv was the one doing all the compromising in her relationship with Hamilton (just like she did with her father). Then out of nowhere she dismisses all her fears, uproots herself, and decides to go for Hamilton because he jumped into the river for her. They never resolved anything. It was almost like Foster said I have to end this lousy story somehow. Let's make the hero do something heroic and the heroine can forget all about herself so they can be together. Abrupt and very lame.
In all honesty Donna Kauffman's "Blown Away" probably wasn't bad but I had a really hard time with her writing style and couldn't keep reading after three chapters. She is very slow and detailed. Some people like that. I had a hard time staying interested so I moved on.
Jill Shalvis's "Perilous Water" saved the book for me. It wasn't her best work but it was decent. Both Wyatt and Leah were likable characters. Their characters also evolved a bit in the story which was nice. It's not action packed and a sweet little story.
Overall, I'm not sure this book was worth my time. I liked Shalvis's story enough but I don't think it was so good that I would have wanted to spend any real money or credits on it. If you can, get it from a library.
