This book would be a great item for a hobbyist looking to make unique gifts. It is beautifully illustrated, and the instructions and explanations are lucid and easy to understand. The end products are beautiful, and the illustrations so clear you can nearly smell the scented bars of herbal soap.
It is NOT a back-to-the-land manual on soap-making from lye and wood ashes, so it wasn't what I wanted for a homesteading friend.
