Guess I read these out of order. I read Harmony's Way first, a couple months prior, then Megan's Mark. They can be stand alone books, I was not confused in reading them out of order; but I did have a case of deja vu. I could swear the same thing happened with both females, they both denied and rejected the Mating Heat; and they were both headstrong "warriors."
This being about the fifth book of Leigh's that I have read, I am learning you may want to read others in between or take a break every now and again with her. The "pet names" that the males give the females and the "conversations" during sex never seem to be original. They are almost word for word.
Nevertheless, I certainly enjoy her books and will not quit reading them. She does not leave much to the imagination, she is very detailed and graphic. As with other reviewers warnings, if you are not into hard core descriptive sex, her books are not for you.

This book is very graphic, almost soft porn. Do not request if you are offended by explicit material

Megan's Mark is a typical Leigh novel. Breed male finds his mate, she resists the bonding but cannot help herself. Male feels the need to dominate, etc. I didn't enjoy the romance so much in this story as I found Megan to be quite annoying. I did find the political aspects of the Breeds interesting.

If you want steamy, read Lora Leigh. The first book of the series. In experiments to create the perfect soldier, human and animal DNA were spliced to create the Breeds. Tested and tortured in labs for years, they are finally out and fighting to keep their "human" recognition in the world.
Cursed with the power to feel other people's emotions, Megan Fields has tucked herself away in a remote corner of New Mexico, working as a small-town sheriff's deputy. She finds solace in the silence of the desert. But when Breeds begin dying on her watch, Megan realized that the secrets from her past can't stay buried forever.
Feline Breed Braden Arness broods with feral intensity. His mission to solve the Breed murders brings him to Megan, a woman who accosts his senses like no other. Only with Braden does Megan find relief from her unwanted empathic powers...and surrender to the hunger that wracks her body. But as they team up to hunt the killers, Braden and Megan find themselves becoming the prey...
A good introduction to a new series and a new "world"....the Breeds.

I really enjoyed this book. I got the recommendation to read this author from another forum and really glad I listened. I am looking forward to reading other "breed" books. The characters were interesting, and of course the romance was "steamy". A very good book!
