This book is like an exciting novel. It is so well written that I had a complete understanding of the whole political picture that Robert Caro painted. This book is one of the most interesting books that I have ever read. I didn't know very much about LBJ other than his handling of Vietnam and civil rights. This book is a lot more than just pointing a finger at a bad guy. Caro's research went very deep into his run for the senate and the people that backed his campaign.
You get to know a lot about Lady Bird Johnson and what she had to tolerate throughout her married life.
I would be very surprised if anyone rated this book less than five stars. When I finished the book I felt a debt of gratitude toward Mr. Caro for having done so much research on a president that many would like to forget.
