Frank Pagan, a policeman in disgrace, is assigned to bodyguard a not-very-important Russian official on a not-very-important trip to Edinburgh. When he is shot point blank, for no discernable reason, the trail leads Pagan to a tangled conspiracy. Thissatisfying 490 page "page turner" keeps you guessing till the end.
