Summary:
Zoe and Olivia thought that the worst days of their lives were when they were cut in ballet, but they were wrong. Olivia is diagnosed with leukemia. As her best friend, Zoe does everything she can for Olivia even when she doesn't really know what to say. This story focuses upon their friendship through all possible odds.
My thoughts:
I ha a student a few years ago that was diagnosed with cancer shortly after the beginning of the school year. She was put into a special hospital unit to complete treatment for leukemia. As a school, we raised money for the leukemia and lymphoma society specifically because that student touched so many of our hearts. I wish I had this book at that time. So many of her friends were at a loss of what to do. They would caravan to see her, constantly write her notes, but didn't know if anything that they did helped at all. This novel really looks into the friendship of Zoe and Olivia before and during cancer. The two girls grow and it's clear that they deeply love one another as only the best of friends can. While a tearjerker, this novel reaches the hearts of the readers. I'm proud to have it in my library and will probably grab a few more copies just in case.
