Any art lover can appreciate the vividly charged paintings of Maxfield Parrish. There is a deep undertone of emotion, playfulness, and etherial peace in his book. Full of stories about Maxfield and his ingenious staging techniques follows him through the early years and through to the end. His personal history is very well written, very detailed and descriptive. The beautiful art deco style of painting has appeared hundreds of times throught his career in ads, calendars, museum artworks, calendars, greeting cards, commisioned works, theatrical scenery, catalogs, illustraions, book covers, and posters. Hundreds of mostly color and some black and white photos appear in this dazzling book of art.
