#4 in the Aubrey-Maturin series that spawned the Master and Commander book and movie.

I am a sailor, a medic, a natural history buff, a horsewoman, love classical chamber music so how could I NOT love these books? The first one was the toughest they just get better and better. After three readings of the whole series, two trips to see the film, a pilgrimage to Southhampton, England I'd say I'm a fan but willing to share the paperbacks at least. So glad I got to meet the author before his death and the illsutrator of the covers.

Like previous Aubrey-Maturin books, this one took me back in time to the Napoleonic Wars and to faraway places. I liked the interactions between Dr. Stephen Maturin and his friend Jack Aubrey. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, Desolation Island.

An interesting book that studies more of the psychological problems associated with sea travel and its effects on the travelers themselves.

The books in this series keep getting better; Im not sure how its possible

Trigger warnings: It's a book about war, so expect violence.
