Having had a sociopath in my life for a time, I was excited about the prospect of a novel taking an honest look at one as a main character. Boy was I sorry. Danielle Steel has always been a hit-or-miss author for me and this was a miss by a mile. Repetitive narration, one dimensional characters and a female protagonist I'd have had to smack if I'd met her face to face. The sociopathic male protagonist came off more as a whiner than a menace until things got physical. Then he just became mean. It got so bad I couldn't even finish the story, which is very unlike me as I'll read almost anything to the end just to see if it improves.
Don't bother unless you're a hard core Danielle Steel fan. It's not worth the wasted time.

Not one of her better books. Towards the end I just skimmed to get through it as she refuses to allow her character to evolve. It's more of the same chapter after chapter.

I used to really like Danielle Steele, but this book left me wanting more. I am not sure if it was purposely repeating the same information as part of the story or if she just didn't have enough to fill the book, but I found it very annoying to keep re-reading the same information. I also don't remember any of her books being scary. This one was creepy and unnerved me.
Excellent book, one of Steels best, you won't want to put it down.
There were parts of this book that were very good but when the heroine has millions upon millions of dollars to get out of any situation, it's rather hard to feel sorry for her.

I think Danielle Steel is rushing to get the next book in print. While reading the book I noticed several points that she repeated. It was as if she forgot that she already told us. The story was very predictable.
I loved this book, and read it very quickly. I couldn't wait to get to the end to find out what happened with the main character and the sociopath she became involved with. I have read every book that Danielle Steel has published and have found very few that I didn't devour in a couple days. Great beach read or one to read by a nice warm fireplace!

This was different than what I'm used to of reading of hers, but I haven't read her too much recently. It was a good book, gives inside feeling of what it's like to be in love with someone very dominating and learning how to escape from the situation.

I really enjoyed this book. It hooked you into the story early and never let up. Have some kleenex handy.
This was a much darker book than the usual Danielle Steel, but one that I couldn't put down. I just kept saying to myself, "Run, Run!". A great read.
This was a very good book involving a sociopath and the way one works his majic on people. Some parts were repetitive, but overall, it was a decent book to read.
good story
Matters of the Heart was a very good book. It was so true to life, telling about how we sometimes become involved with another person, not really knowing them, and then disaster strikes. The book will hold your attention to the end. After I started reading it, it was hard to put down. You just want to keep reading wondering what will happen next. I have read all of Danielle Steels books. She is one of my favorite authors.I give this book a 5.
VERY GOOD READING
