This one was a little tough for me to get into, but the quirky chapter numbers amused me so I kept on reading. After the first few chapters, I found myself not wanting to put the silly thing down. From paper-thin damsels in distress to misplaced Star Trek characters, there's a new adventure on every page in a book that keeps you guessing almost to the very end.

I loved the CHICKS IN CHAINMAIL books. I loved the stories that Margaret Ball contributed to the series about Riva coming from another reality and living in the "paper-pusher world". This book is another adventure of Riva. It was very slow to start but started picking up about a third of the way through. It was a good quick read.

Another delightful CHICKS IN CHAINMAIL. Take some anal-retentive school officials, a few not-so-tough home-boys and a wizard whose transformed magic staff isn't working quite right. Add a sleazy preacher, three kidnapped children stuck in a strange dimension, and top with a barbarian warrior-lady who really prefers direct action to tact---said direct action generally accomplished with a sharp sword. Fun!

From back cover: The Pen Is Mightier Than the Sword (But Sometimes Paper Just Isn't Enough...) Just because mild-mannered suburban mom Riva Konneva was a warrior woman from an alternate reality didn't mean she got out of going on field trips. Nor could she just slash and hack her way through parent-teacher meetings, as she earnestly desired when confronted with administrators who tried to tell her that her child belonged in program for the emotionally disturbed because she showed too much initiative. No, Riva had come to the Planet of the Paper-Pushers to give her daughter the kind of education she, a simple girl from the mountains, had never received, and now she was going to have learn a whole new way of fighting. With paper... On the other hand, sometimes, such as when old enemies arrive out of nowhere, intent on slaughtering one's children; paper just isn't enough....

This is a great weekend read- one of the "Chicks in Chainmail" books.

This book combines fantasy and sci-fi in a quirky way. Likeable characters- plot turns almost humerous sometimes.

"Your daughter needs a good education. WHat's a mother to do? If you happen to be a warrior woman from an alternative reality...you commute!"

Warrior woman Riva runs into crazy school psychologists, hyped-up preachers, and ex lovers in her quest to help her daughter get a good education and ultimately find happiness for herself.
