(I wrote this review for the Charleston, SC Post and Courier newspaper:
As Matchstick Men opens, we meet roly-poly Roy and tall, skinny Frankie. who, as usual, are in the midst of setting up a scam. "Running the C together," they would say.
In a world of consummate con men. they truly are a two-man operation at the top of their game.
You hear the scheme they are putting down, and you buy into it right away. You are just another unsuspecting mark, wrapped in a world of misdirection, verbal sleight-of-hand and games offering something too good to be true.
Etc.
