Magnificent presentation of Corot's body of work - I was especially pleased that the color plates are clear-cut, without fuzziness. These reproductions are of the highest quality. A good selection of Corot's drawings are also included. These are combined with insightful essays about Corot's personal life, his growth as an artist; his late-in-life fame and the way he treated it, and the influence he had on other artists - many Impressionists, to whom he was a forerunner and an inspiration, as well as modern artists like Cezanne and Picasso. An immense, beautifully produced, coffee-table-size book about a great 19th century artist.
