When I bought this book, I thought it was going to be more of a biography about Mary, the mother of Jesus. However, it says in this book that there is actually very little in the Bible about Mary and her life. It is a very thorough book of everything else you can think of about Mary, and I feel it is well written. I have to admit, it was over my head. It had so many religious terms in it that I'm not familiar with that I constantly had to look things up in the dictionary or on Google. It was the first time I have heard of the terms Mariology, homoousion, Vulgate, pericopes, and on and on. I think if it wasn't for that, I would have enjoyed the book so much more. Perhaps the book is suitable for people who are more advanced in those topics or a theology student.
