A good read and provided insight into the makings of these historic buildings. We visited the Grand Canyon this summer and I took the book along to reference whenever we toured one of these buildings.

I enjoyed reading this well illustrated book about Ms. Colter.
The author could have improved the book by noting that the salary Colter earned teaching art at an academy was quite munificent in the late 19th C. I asked my mom's stepfather what he made on his first job and he told me it was four bits a day (Centralia, Washington) in 1898, the year he turned sixteen. He added that he soon found a better paying job.
