Bessie Head's writing is unique in that it presents the reader with an original plot format. It addresses the timeless issues of prejudice and duty, but from the unique perspective of the South African society. Her writing is beautifully descriptive and mysterious and will leave the thoughtful reader wondering still, long after the book is finished.
