What a great book! I really loved this one. There is nothing quite like the idea of pampering yourself -- which is what this "diet book" is all about: spoiling yourself with small quantities of foods that feel positively sinful and losing weight by not denying yourself.

This book is incredibly vapid. It is poorly written and rife with typographical errors. One of the author's oft-repeated mottoes is "What Would Jackie Do?," though I'm fairly certain Jackie Onassis would know that the Hermès "Birken" bag is actually spelled "Birkin" (p. 85). One example among many. Not only does Sander contradict herself almost constantly (e.g. telling the reader to shun soda, but then providing a recipe for something called "Coca Cola Cake"), but she is completely off-base in many of her suggestions. As if that weren't bad enough, she is trying very hard to be cutesy which makes the book seem really juvenile.

For the few who haven't already read it, I would suggest Guiliano's "French Women Don't Get Fat" or Moriyama's "Japanese Women Don't Get Fat" over this.
