This book is great to show kids that no matter why you think your mom is terrible, and no matter why she makes you do all those HORRIBLE things like eat your veggies and behave, she does it because she loves you. In the end, Milo learns that no matter how mad he is at his mom, he really loves her, too. Love this book!

As I first started this book something in me thought I was going to dislike it. I knew the book had been made into an extended movie and that thought made me groan a little because I knew the movie did not do as well. As I continued to read the story the disgruntled boy who dislikes his mother and doesnt understand why he needs one. I did not realize how powerful this story is until you get to the end. The end of the book makes all the difference to the story.

I was moved by the end and I think this is a must have picture book for kids to read with mothers. Especially on Mothers Day!

I bought this planning to use it as a read aloud for my elementary school class year(it would be a good one), when, to my horror, I discover that they are making a movie out of it. There's nothing worse than having a kid say "Oh, I've already seen the movie, read something else!"

I looked carefully for Opus making a cameo appearance, no luck. I think that's a shame, since Breathed has done for Penguins what Gary Larson has done for cows and Scott Adams has done for dogs. However, he still has a lot of people in desperate need of face lifts.
