This was an enjoyable change of pace from the very serious Zombie genre. It was witty and fun as well as had good action. I enjoyed it but I do not read these kinds of novels too much. I believe my horror should be hard core. This was fun though!

This book was a complete riot. I am more a fan of the vampire genre than zombies, but I could not put this book down. Sarah and David appear to be your normal everyday average married couple struggling to keep their marriage alive with divorce looming on the horizon. As with a lot of couples working on their relationship, they are in counseling. The book begins with Sarah and David on their way to a counseling appointment and arguing. From there, the book ceases to be normal on any level and instead takes the reader into an all-out zombie infestationstarting with their annoying, prissy therapist.

Sarah and David have to keep their wits together and learn how to fight the zombies instead of each other if they have any hope of staying alive. One of the things I loved best about this story is that no matter how unrealistic the chances of a zombie apocalypse happening are, the author does a fantastic job of portraying Sarah and David as very realistic. Do they fall into each others arms, profess their undying love and apologies for hurting each other at the end of the book? No waybut they do realize what is important and its the promise of tomorrow and working together today to get there.

Sadly, a lot of people in the book die, mostly zombies and interestingly, taking out zombies seem to come quite naturally to Sarah and David. They quickly realize that in order to survive, they need to get out of Seattle where they are living and find Davids sister and eventually Sarahs father. Along the way, they meet some interesting and strange characters and I laughed myself silly at the image of 90+ year old female zombies sitting at slot machines in one casino they stop at.

This is the first book in the authors Living with the Dead series and is followed by Flip This Zombie. I am not sure if I will like the rest of the series as much as I love this book, but Im hoping so and looking forward to what Sarah and David face next.

This is the first book in the Living with the Dead series by Petersen. The third book in this series (Eat, Love, Slay) was just released in July of 2011. This was a fun series; pretty typical zombie stuff but the main couple involved in the story is hilarious.

Sarah and David have been going to couple's counseling for months. Things just aren't working out: Sarah is still working her butt off to make ends meet and David is still lounging around playing video games and hoping to "find himself". Well their most recent counseling session changes all of that when their counselor tries to eat them. Yep, she's turned into a zombie. Now Susan and David are forced to work together to stay alive in a zombie infested world; who knew zombie slaying could bring a couple closer together?

This book is well written, fast moving, and makes for a fun read. Sarah and David come across as your standard dysfunctional couple on the edge of divorce. They are constantly irritating each other and letting small things drive them crazy. They are both snarky and sarcastic and fun to read about. It is only when they have to stand side by side and fight together in life-threatening situations that they finally begin to remember why they got married in the first place.

This whole book brings to light that whole philosophy of "don't sweat the small things" in your relationship. Really when your life is on the line who cares if your husband put the stupid Whitesnake album in the CD player again? Petersen also touches on how much better things can be when you think every day might be your last. I love how each chapter name consists of some couples counseling advice but with zombies added.

The zombies in this book are pretty standard. The whole scenario is an infection gone awry type of thing. The zombies are your typical mindless brain-eating variety, so the book doesn't really cover anything new and creative from that aspect.

The book was a quick read and well paced, it was engaging and hard to put down. For those with weak stomachs it does get pretty graphic; there is a lot of discussion of blood, black vomit, brain matter, and various stages of rot. There is also quite a bit of swearing, so definitely targeted at an adult audience.

Overall a fun, fast read. I read the book quickly and found it to be funny and engaging. Sarah and David are both funny and tough. It was sweet and fun to watch how they worked through their marital issues via zombie therapy. A good book for zombie fans that like humor and engaging characters. This book doesn't really cover any new territory as far as zombie theory goes; these zombies are the same mindless brain-eaters you know and love. A great summer read, with a lot of laughs and a bit of heart too. I will definitely be reading the second book in the series: Flip This Zombie.

Sarah and David are on the verge of divorce. Than an outbreak happens. They arrive to their therapy appointment and find their therapist eating the couple who had the appointment before theirs. Who then tries to eat them.
I needed this book (I was reading this while reading another book)! This was funny, but after awhile their bickering got on my nerves. I also really didn't understand why Sarah married David in the first place. By all accounts, she gave up things because he wanted to do things, but then didn't. And when she then wanted to do things, he didn't want her to, so she didn't. She was the breadwinner and he did ???? So, I had a hard time liking David.
Even so, it had a way of working out.
