Marlon Brando was a complex man and a wonderful actor. I remember watching 'Streetcar Named Desire' and was enthralled with the acting. Brando absolutely pulsed on the screen (Vivien Leigh was no slouch either). That's when I realized what a great actor he was. Unfortunately, his acting achievements did not carry over to life. He lived a very messy life.
I had hoped that this book would explain why Brando did not get his Oscar but sent an Indian woman to speak in his place. I never understood what his reasoning was behind that action. This book also didn't tell about the island Brando bought and lived on for much of his life. Otherwise, this covered the major points (Brando's early life, films, awards, marriages/partnerships, and later life).
