Each of Francine Rivers books is incredible. This series is really 2 Christian historical fiction stories. In A Voice in the Wind we meet Hadassah and other characters in this story set in the first century. An Echo in the Darkness concludes the story. The story told in these 2 books is a MUST READ. Even people who just aren't readers have read this story and LOVED.

As Sure as the Dawn is a spin-off of the other story, only related by 1 minor character.

In contrast to Hadassah (the main character in the 1st two books), who is gentle, soft spoken, and humble, Rizpah is independent, spirited, and strong-willed. This results in amusing interactions between her and Artetes.

We hear almost nothing of Atretes save a few passing references from other characters. We never know what Atretes is up to as the events of this story unfold. By the end of this book, most of the threads have been tied up and the book closes completely the story of Hadassah.


I read these books in 5 days and they are all 500 pages or better. These books put me right in Rome. I got a true sense of the Old Testament. Absolutly worth your time!!! And a must have for your own personal library.

Best series I've ever read, hands down. I can't rememer ever getting so emotionally involved in a series. You'll never forget these books, ever.

The first two books in this series are by far the best books I've ever read. The plot is fantastic. The characters are heart wrenching.
