Mark E. Eberhart is an author and a professor of Chemistry & Geochemistry at the Colorado School of Mines.

Eberhart holds a B.S. in Chemistry and Applied Mathematics and an M.S. in Physical Biochemistry from the University of Colorado as well as a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has published two books; Why Things Break (2003), an autobiographical book describing his education and his studies of Stress and Fracture and Feeding the Fire (2007).
