Ended Feb at 238.6. Maintained that for 7 days. Will come in tomorrow and update..

Happy 1st day of March. Hope everyone reaches their goal for this month.

I'm still stuck at 238.6, which is 0.6 higher than on Feb. 1st. So you can say I pretty much maintained thru Feb. even though I did some yo-yo-ing. Hoping this month to do more losing without all the yo-yo-ing. My goal for this month is to get below 234. I'm doing some changes to my food plan as of the 12th when I buy groceries again. Plan to eat more fresh (frozen) fish, less red meat, and more greens. Also plan to eat more calcium rich foods. And more fruit. My exercise hasn't been the best so I need to really start doing more walking or getting on the exercise bike. My back tells me when that is possible or when I have to take it easier, but I will get in as much as I can this month.

What are your short term goals for the month?

Friday weigh in 203.

I pulled up my CarbManager app and looked back at last February. I am 10 pounds heavier than last year at this time. I scrolled through my daily food logs and I was eating less. I wasn't eating Werthers candy all day. I didn't pour honey all over my yogurt.  So, this is going to be very hard but tomorrow I am going all around the house, collecting the Werthers and putting it all in the basement freezer.  My lunches a year ago were hardboiled eggs and cheese or yogurt with a drizzle of honey. I have Lorna Doone cookies in the cupboard. They are the small packets which I don't think are too bad especially since I share with Meggie. But I have dark chocolate in the cupboard too.  Freezer!  Ten pounds in a year is bad. So now I'm awake and on track.

You can do it Teri. You have more willpower than I do if you can just put things in the freezer. I'd have to get rid of them completely so I wouldn't have the temptation still close enough to get to. Last March 1st I was 250.3, so I have come a good ways, but still have a lot more to lose. But I yo-yo terribly thru the month so it's always a guessing game as to what the end number will finally be at the end of each month. So I have to sit myself down and really set out specific plans to work toward, like my food plan starting on the 12th.

You're seeing what changes you need to make to reach your goals and I'm sure you'll get it down.

Thanks for the encouragement.

I've decided to swallow my pride and go ask my PCP for Ozempic to give me that kick start to weight loss. If she mentions seeing a nutritionist I'm going to tell her I want to try just the Ozempic and my own dietary limits. After all, I did lose 50 pounds without a nutritionist.

Teri, are you diabetic? My doctor won't prescribe it unless you are.

No! That's why my nephrologist won't give it to me. Well, if I can't get it I can't get it. If its not FDA approved for weight loss, no point in asking for it. Maybe I should go back to eating candy so that my blood test shows a high glucose number.

It's a shame it's not offered for just the people needing to lose weight. I tried getting my doctor to ok it but he refused. My son is on it but he is diabetic, but he says he's going to have to get a stronger doseage because what he's on isn't helping him.

Well, after 8 days, my numbers changed, but not in the right direction. I'm 241 this morning. Hopefully the numbers head back in the right direction over the next day or two.

Now that I think about it, Ozempic stopped having an effect on me too. I was going to ask for a higher dose when I had to stop taking it.

I think they should make it available for anyone that needs to lose weight but lower the cost of it. Way too expensive.

I managed to get back under 240 this morning. I'm 239.6.

Still heading in the right direction. 238.8 this morning. But I'm right back to what I weighed on Jan. 1st. Got to do better than that.

You'll do it, Vicki!  I think once the weather improves consistently, we'll all do better!

I hope so.

I haven't done anything today. I pulled a muscle in my left leg and am having trouble walking. Thank goodness I have my cane.

My friend Phyllis's son came over this afternoon for me to look over a document. They're going to pay off the loan on my car and get Phyllis's name off the title and registration. Going thru their lawyer to make it all legal. I'll then start making payments to them in April, but paying a little less than what I'd be paying the finance company, so I can save a little each month. We go see the lawyer tomorrow and then Clay will overnight the payoff to the finance company so they'll get it Friday. Then next week we can go to the DMV and get the title in just my name as well as the registration. Be glad to have it all over with.

I haven't had any candy today. Makes me realize (again) how big a habit I have. It rained all day today so neither Meggie nor I got outside. Tomorrow I take the van to the shop. I hope its not a big problem.

Teri, I hope the van isn't a big expense for you.

Went yesterday to the lawyer and got the paperwork signed and notorized for paying off my car. Then we went to post office and overnighted the check so they'll have it this afternoon. Found out it takes a few days to get the paid off notification from the finance company and they take up to 3 weeks to notify DMV, so it'll be about a month now before we can go to the DMV and get registration and title put in just my name. But at least the car has been paid off. And I just pay my friends back for the "loan", but at a lower amount than I was paying the finance company and with no interest added. It'll take me 5 months longer to pay them than it would have the finance company but at the lower monthly payment, it helps me out.

Weight wise, I'm 238 today.

Still at 203 today, although I was 205 a couple days ago. I'm making an effort to get away from Werthers. I've only had a couple of them in the past 2 days. This is a huge improvement because my habit was to go through almost a bag daily. I think there's about 15 candies in a bag but its a lot of sugar.

They had to keep my van overnight.  The repair will cost me $440. That's less than it might have cost without the extended warranty. I keep reminding myself that in the long run repairs are less than a monthly car payments. An aging car can become a money pit. I hope I can afford to keep it running for many more years. Not just because of the car payment thing but because it won't be possible to get a technologically simple van like mine in future.

You'll get there Teri. I'm a sugar addict and have been all my life. But I do stay away from as much of it as I can with regards to candy, cakes, pie, etc. I do get cookies once in awhile and I love ice cream so I do still get those, but not as often as I used to.

I worry about car repairs myself. I'm going to have to look into getting an extended warranty since my warranty on the Kia runs out in a couple of months.

Happily, they only charged me $363 for the van. I threw Meggie in the van and went for a ride to pick up meds.

That's good.

Today has been a long day. Haven't done anything worthwhile other than answer a bunch of pen pal letters. Now I'm laying in bed, playing on my phone. Probably be asleep by 8:30. Have a restful night everyone.

Still stuck at 238. See what happens this week. Wednesday I go in for my wellness check-up. Good thing as I'm still having issues with my left leg along the side of my knee and calf area. I get really sharp pain and my knee buckles on me. Currently I have the upper calf wrapped with an ace bandage. That seems to be helping some. But I'm really thankful for my cane. I have a walker as well but it's a little crowded trying to use it in the apt., so the cane works best. I really don't know what brought this on since I haven't twisted my leg or anything. Woke up about a week ago and when I went to get out of bed my leg buckled. It eases up after awhile but it is concerning. I knew I was seeing the doctor this week. That's why I haven't made an appointment before now. Guess I'll find out then if it's something to be worried about.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and reaches your daily or weekly goal.

Scale went up to 238.8 this morning. I plan to buy salad makings this week and maybe that'll help.

I've managed to stay out of the candy. I let myself have 2 Werthers at bedtime but considering how much I was eating every day that's great.  I think I feel better without all that candy. What a news flash!

Today 246, been wavering around there. As long as I don't go back to 250, I may just be happy with that this month! Much more of my focus is on squeezing time in to exercise and even walk. Did walk yesterday... in Shorts! And last week it was icy. Well...

Margaret, I don't own a single pair of shorts! I have many broken veins on my legs. So unattractive. I envy those who can wear shorts.
