This is one of my new favorite books! The language is rich and poetic, the story is intense and gripping. I can't wait to read more.

The ONLY reason I bought this book is because someone in my book club chose it to read. The ONLY reason I finished this book is because it became a personal grudge. It did not really like this book. The first 200 pages drove me completely insane. The writing is too flowery, too many metaphors, just too much of everything. Apparently, it took the author 11 years to write this thing - I thought for sure it would take me 12 years to read it. The story itself is really very good. (Although I'm a little confused about the ending). The problem is that the author spends too much time setting it up, too many words describing everything. I just wasn't impressed.
