As a devotee of ghost stories (not "horror" stories, though), I thought I would enjoy this more than I did. Having the paperback cover compare the author to Stephen King should have warned me. (I am sure King gets paid by the word.)

This was an easy read, but I am not a fan of books that jump back and forth between multiple characters; I prefer straight-line stories that follow one set of characters throughout.

It wasn't a total waste, and I did manage to finish it (lots of skimming though.)

It's a pretty good ghost story with the main character, Anna, coming to Korban Manor to find the old master's ghost. Korban Manor is a retreat for artistes to spend six weeks without the hustle and bustle of city life. But Anna has been dreaming of Korban Manor and it's owner, Ephram Korban, who killed himself years before.

She goes there to see if she can find him and solve some issues of her own.

The Art of Evil. A blue moon is on the rise in October, opening magical pathways to conjure up something unimaginable. Something feeding off the energies in the house. Something seeking everlasting life -- at any cost....

I ordered this book because it was by a NC author and set in the mountains of NC. Am I glad I read it? Yes.
Is it my type of book? No If you like books about supernatural and ghosts and spooky places you might like this book. I couldn't figure out until the end of the book who were ghosts, who were alive and what it was really going on - maybe that's the way it was supposed to be. Difficult for me to rate and some who like this type book may rate it much higher.
