A quick fun read! As always, Janet's writing is good for a laugh! Don't expect too much depth or for it to be too beleivable, and you will be sure to enjoy the book for what it is....a fun romance!
Helpful Score: 5
This is a very fun, quick read. If you like Janet Evanovich's other romance novels, you will like this one as well. As I always do with her books, I found myself luaghing out loud. Good book to read at the beach or when you're just feeling like you need a light-hearted story.

I love these books. This one was fun of adventure and one determined girl. Alex. She is one strong willed babe, and she has her head on straight. I love her will to NOT QUIT. She reminded me alot of me. This is a great quick read for anyone that is searching for some extra UMPH in their life and reading for that matter. Climb aboard and fly to Alaska for one great ride! Hugs, Heather P.

Although this book is an earlier work (1989) than most of the 12 novels/novellas in Evanovichs early career, it seems much better than most. First, no cars explode. Second, it takes more than 10 minutes for the couple to fall in love with each other!
Third, this story isnt just fun-and-games in the bedroom; there are serious issues each must grapple with before committing to each other. Dont get me wrong, it has plenty of hilarity and cute nonsense.
Alexandra Scott has reached the tipping point in her life; her biological clock is working overtime and she doesnt see a way to meet eligible men because she works so hard in Manhattan. Alex decides that she has to do something different if she is going to meet a marriageable partner in her lifetime.
After some research, Alex realizes that men seriously outnumber women in one state Alaska. On a whim, she exchanges her Princeton condo ($400,000) for a cabin and small business in Alaska sight unseen! You know she is in trouble now right? Things get progressively worse but Alex is an unfailing optimist who refuses to be cowed by a few disasters and herds of mice.
Alexs next mile neighbor is Michael Casey, a pilot and partner in a thriving business. He is not interested in marriage but he is very interested in a short-term romance with Alex.
This is a very quick read with several laugh-out-loud moments. The story is predictable but not as mindless as most of Evanovichs early novels. Enjoy!

This was a fun and fast read. Highly recommend for a laugh!
Short, quick read romance novel.
Adorable light cotton candy romance.
Very quick read, but good.
Twenty-nine and going on sixty-five Alexandra Scott was fed up with twelve hour days, too many deadlines and too many long commutes. She dropped it all and moved to Alaska to run a hardware store which she bought. Maybe this is where the television show "Men in Trees" got their idea. In pure Evanvoch fashion she will have you laughing throughout the book.
Early Evanovich. Fun book to read.
I really like this one alot!
Fun, light-hearted. A good, quick read.
Very quick and entertaining read!
Janet Evanovich is one of my favorite authors, and this book is no exception. It's one of those books that you don't want to end.
Loved it! It has the quirkiness of Stephanie Plum.
Manhunt is a story of a young woman who trades her upscale Princeton condo and her glam career for a rustic log cabin and a fixer-upper hardware store stuck out in the Alaskan wilderness. She's on a crusade to find a husband, and I have to tell you this is a really hot book. First she discovers her neighbor is a hunk of burning love, and then she accidentally burns her outhouse down. How much hotter can you get?
Very cute. A quick read about an improbable trade that lands an executive in the wilds of Alaska. It made me want to visit (in a very warm hotel!) Alaska.
A fun read! Quick and enjoyable.
This is a cute story and a quick read.
This book is completely different from her Stephanie Plum series, but still a wonderful book. A great read!
As usual Janet makes you laugh with all her troubles.
Fun read!
I found this book hilarious!
This was a good read! There were several Lough Out Loud moments!
Alexiandra Scott came to Alaska looking for a husband and found things a girl who had lived in the city all her life never knew existed.
So much fun, typical witty romantic Evanovich. Love her style
This is a pretty good book.
The story of a young woman who trades her upscale condo for a rustic log cabin stuck out in the Alaskan wlderness. As the title states, she is looking for a husband...
This is the story of a young woman who trades her upscale Princeton condo and her glam career for a rustic log cabin and a fixer-upper hardware store stuck out in the Alaskan wilderness. All in her crusade to find a husband.
Fast reading but very good.
Great story with interesting characters and a fast-moving plot. At 29, Alexandra Scott was already a junior vice president in a large corporation. Feeling stifled and hearing her biological clock ticking, she trades her Princeton condo for an old man's cabin and hardware store in the Alaskan wilderness. She wants to change her life and meet a husband. Things don't go as planned. The cabin and the store are more rustic than she ever imagined. And the one man who peaks her interest swears he wants to be a bachelor for life. But does he really? Gotta read this to find out!
Very cute story. Janet Evanovich never gets boring. I love all her books. Easy and quick reads.
Awsome Book
Janet Evanovich always delivers a fun read. Enjoyable, funny and light hearted her books always make me feel good.
This book was typical of Janet Evanovich. A little action with a touch of romance. It was a very quick read and most enjoyable.
I'm not actually sure why I keep reading these pre-Plum Evanovich novellas...I keep hoping the next one will be better and it never is.
This was OK.
great book, love all of Janet E's books. NJ exec moves to Alaska to find a husband, all the misadventures along the way. Just a fun read.
One more great book.
Go North to Alaska and find yourself a husband!! That is what the Wall Street broker does for herself. See how she does this and enjoy the adventure. It is fun!!
I really liked this book. Very fast read.
Funny, fast, good Evanovich!
I read this one in about 2 hours!
As always a great story by author. A fast read.
Cute little love story.
light hearted fun romance, a quick read.
A QUICK READ BUT GOOD
Not Stephanie Plum, but good.
just a silly fun-filled love story!
A young woman trades her upscale Princeton condo and her glam career for a rustic log cabin and a fixer-upper hardware store stuck out in the Alaskan wilderness.
Cute, funny, totally Evanovich!
Great quirky read!
Romance novel to the Max
Cute and funny. Easy reading.
great adventure and love story
wonderful and funny light reading - good for reading during a snowstorm
I believe I liked this book better because of where it took place - in Alaska. For some reason I could see myself there as Alex and it just made it a very fast and cute read. :p
Cute. Lightweight. Beach book.
"This is a short and simple, well-written romance. If fluff offends you, steer clear of "Manhunt," written in the days when Janet Evanovich was developing the talent that authored the terrific Stephanie Plum series...
However, if you're looking for an entertaining read to wile away a few hours, this could be it." amazon review

Read one of Janet's really fun pre-Plum books.
Quick and light read. Enjoyable!

Romance reprint of early Evanovich
Great book!
Fun light reading
Quick, easy beach/pool read! Interesting twist of a woman leaving it all behind to move to Alaska to run a store.

A quick read and some great laughs. A an Alaskan, I could totally relate to how ppl may see AK
Typical Evanovich, fun characters, screwy tale, quick read!
Pretty funny!
Not as good as her Plum series, but still a nice light read and very enjoyable. Read it in one day.
cute, light romance. Obviously one of her early books. But, still good.
Alexandra Scott, Wall Street executive, trades ALL sight unseen for a cabin & store in Alaska in her search for a husband. Eavnovich romance. 3 stars
Another quirky, quick read by Evanovich. Very cute and lovable characters.
i thought it was a cute story:)
My first Evanovich read, and I loved it. This book was funny because it is realistic. And who doesn't love a real down-to-earth common love story? She left a good taste in my mouth!
quick read, very enjoyable, like all janet evanovich books
A very good light romance. Quick reading.
A fun, quick read. A New York exec trades her Pradas for Uggs and heads to Alaska to run a sporting goods store--and to find a nice, stable, boring husband. She finds the love of her life instead.
really liked it!
I *love* Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series so I thought I'd give some of her other books a try. This was fabulous! What a great book, very entertaining, had me laughing out loud! This woman knows how to write a fantastic book!
I have read all of her books past and present. This was a good and funny story about living in Alaska
Interesting book, not the ordinary Evanovich, insight into Alaska Wilderness.
A quick and oh, so much fun Read. Romantic, funny and sexy. Alexandra is burned out from her brokerage job and heads to Alaska to find clean air and a husband. Casey is a hunk, who is burnt from his first marriage, and when he sees Alex, he really begins to burn.
One of 12 short romance novels written prior to the Plum series.
Short read, but very enjoyable!
I was disappointed in this book. I have really enjoyed other Evanovich novels, but this didn't live up to the standards of the others - humor and relationship development could have been improved.
Great love story set in icy Alaska
Light fluffy read, good for a few hours distraction from real life.
quick read.. just right for a plane ride.
A quick, fun read.
Great Beach Read-I finished in one day.
I like all of her books, really enjoyed this one too.
Book Description
A woman with a talent for numbers, Alexandra Scott wanted to escape the rat race and go someplace where the men outnumber the women. Trading in her Wall Street job and fancy condo for a rundown cabin in the woods. She's now Alaskan Wilderness Woman.
It isn't long before she finds exactly what she's looking for: one sexy pilot named Michael Casey. But this confirmed bachelor has no intentions of getting caught in any woman's crosshairs -- especially a hunter as appealing as Alex.
It'll take skill, determination, and a little romantic persuasion for this big-game hunter to bag her prey.

This was an easy reading tale of a young, overworked Manhattan professional who gave it all up to move to Alaska to find a husband. Not a monumental story, but entertaining reading nonetheless.
Awesome story! Earlier Evanovich but filled with lots of crazy fun! You will love this quick read!
Casey trades her glitzy condo for a rustic cabin in the Alaskan wilderness. She just didn't know HOW rustic!! Another score for Evanovich.

Not a great literary work...but it sure was fun!
Very nice Alaskan based romance.
Alex gives up a big city career to find a more simpler life in Alaska but in typical Janet Evanovich style finds herself in all kinds of trouble and that includes man trouble.
Older Janet Evanovich. I can definately see the humor that gave way to Stephanie Plum series.
A very cute love story taking place in rugged Alaska. Light, fun reading, I read it in one night.
Great fun.
Not one of her best but a good read nonetheless.
This was a good story like all the others this author has written.
Very Good, can't go wrong with one of her books.
Great quick read - fun in the Alaskan frontier
Light reading for a rainy afternoon.
Easy to read, fun, great beach/travel book.
This has been my favorite Evanovich romance so far. I liked the setting in Alaska because it reminded me of spending time in the Rocky Mountains, and I really liked Casey's character. Because the book was written several years ago, it took on the "romance formula" so of course the plot was extremely predictable. I also thought Alex was pathetically desperate and sickening the way she used her manipulation schemes to get her man. I didn't think that part was too cute, but overall the book was cute, fun, and enjoyable.

Cute book really enjoyed this one. Shes looking for a husband but she has high standards and he has to meet those!
Evanovich delivers a hilarious read!
Nice Story with strong characters and the dog too,
One of the first Evanovich books I picked up.. this got me hooked!
First written in 1989
Very good book by a favorite author of mine
Cute love story from author of the Stephanie Plum series.
As always JE delivers a cute story. Laughs plus romance take you on a quick read you'll enjoy.
An earlier novel from the author of the STEPHANIE PLUM series. A light, fun read.
From inside cover: "One of the reasons I came to Alaska was to find a husband. You don't have to look so alarmed. You're not my type," Alex told him.
"What's wrong with me?"
"You're much too handsome. And you're rich. I want someone plain. Someone a little boring."
Casey didn't want to marry her either, but he didn't like being rejected. "I refuse to give up my money, but I could try to be boring."
"I don't think so."
"Why do you want someone boring?"
"Not exactly boring, more lik stable. Someone with roots. Someone with common sense. Someone who's good at being contendte. Someone with plain brown hair."
"Someone who has all the qualities you lack?"
"Yeah. How did you know that?"
"You're obviously as crazy as a coot."
Casey pushed her out of the cabin.

Fun!! Nice light reading! Cute romantic saga. The characters draw you in.
I enjoy everything Miss Evanovich writes. This was a fun read about an area I'd love to visit, snowy Alaska. What woman hasn't dreamed of being stranded in a remote cabin in a snow covered world..............

Another good book a little fluff but always a good read
A good romance book.
did not enjoy as well as some of her other books.
5 Stars! I absolutely loved it. Terrific ending too!
very funny
Set in Alaska, this is one of Evanovich's first works.
As an Alaskan this book insults me, but Janet's still a good writer and if you remember that she's a New Jersey girl it's not a bad romance story.
