Very well-researched and fascinating book about Lincoln's murder and the hunt for Booth. I appreciate Swanson setting right once and for all the mythology about Samuel Mudd, who was anything but an innocent country doctor.

I brought this book on vacation with some girlfriends and was promptly teased for my choice of a "light summer read". HA! While this is definitely heavy material, it is written in such a way that it honestly feels more novel-like than historical. It was truly gripping! I can't wait to do the tours of Dr. Mudd's house, the Surratt house and Ford's Theatre again.

Historically interesting true crime story that changed the path of our nation. Who knows how things would have turned out should Lincoln have served his full term in office? Great details, great drama.
