It begins in Manhattan, New York with Jessica; and Santa staring at her at Christmastime. Behind the beard is Waldo Morse, former drug smuggler and the most notorious citizen of Cabot Cove, Maine. Of course he recognizes Jessica. He asks Jessica to meet him at 2PM the next day.

Jessica goes at the agreed time to meet him with her camera but he is being murdered. The police are slow acting and the victim's wife is fast on her feet. To prevent another murder Jessica starts acting fast investigating with her usual precision. This is great Book!
