CHRISTMAS PRIDE,
I'm really tired of the lion shifter thretning to kill everyone, and what an atitute both had. I did not like ANY of the characters. And I mean ANY. Not even the suporting ones.
SHAW'S TAIL,
I had major problem with the 2 female leads. I mean braging about how they were baned from more then 50 world wide countries? and BTW, When has Prague become a country? Instead of comong off as mischivous, they were iritating and represented everything I dislike in a character.
Here is example how great writing and interesting story can be totally ruined by immature, childish, way too macho aggressive (I mean shut up or I will kill you followed by fangs ripping holes in body parts) absolutely off putting behavior. Not One character had redeeming qualities.

I agree with all the reviews! Yep--the plot is pretty thin. Yep--the book basically moves from one sex scene to another. And yep--it was FUNNY!
Laurentson writes some GREAT alpha-female characters who take no garbage off their men & sling wicked-funny comments. Plus she includes fun alpha-males who manage to dominate & possess their women, but without being creepy-abusive-stalker about it.
All in all I enjoyed her writing immensely. A great "fluff" read...not worth keeping & reading again, mind you...but perfect one-time escapism.

Erotic Paranormal Romance. Two stories. First, lion shapeshifter Mace returns home to New York intent on claiming Dez, the only woman he's ever loved. Except his high society sister, and leader of the Pride is against it. And Dez is a cop investigating a suspicious murder. And she has no intentions of committing to another man ever again. She's human, and she doesn't know what he is. Then, lion shapeshifter Brenden Shaw falls for wolf shifter Ronnie Lee. But lions and wolves hate each other, right? These stories are fair. The author tries for a lot of humor, and one liners. The romance stories are pretty good, but the one liners get old after awhile. The theme of both stories is boy falls in love with girl from a different class. Fun.

This is the cutest book. It can be a bit crude and there is a fair amount of sex but it made me laugh out loud and I usually hate funny romance novels. This was a good one. Hope they are all like this.

This author is hilarious! silly kind of funny. The males are alphas and in the first story the woman is human and male is a lion shifter. the 2nd story male is lion shifter and woman is wolf. The she-wolves are a bit vicious but it seems to fit the storylines. There's some violence here and there but I sorta read quick over those few scenes. I laughed a lot reading this one and it's either erotic romance or pretty darned close!

Laurenston's books contain humor, romance and suspense. I find them enjoyable reading. I had a slight preference for Christmas Pride in the book but they are both good.

Yep, I agree with other reviews - there isn't much depth to Laurenston's Pride series... but to borrow another reviewers words, it is wickedly funny! Her writing style is solid and consistent throughout the stories. I usually get my hackles up when writers promote stereotypes of Southern characters, however, there is so much humor from one scene to the next, the author manages to soothe me over her wolf pack.
I give it 5 stars because I can't think of a reason to remove any. The lack of plot doesn't detract for me at all, it kept me engaged and entertained from start to finish, the sex made me fan myself a bit, I was satisfied at the end of each story, and I can't wait to grab the next one. It's an excellent choice for a light read. Yes, there is a lot of sex. If that's not your cup of tea, skip this series. For the rest of us - enjoy!

This is actually 2 stories (Christmas Pride and Shaw's Tail). Rating is the average for both.
Christmas Pride- 2*
Mace and Dez were BFFs when they were kids. Then she moved. Mace went on to the military and is now out and starting his own business with a military friend (Smitty). Dez also had a military stint and is now a detective. Fast forward 20 years and they reconnect after a Pride member's murder Dez happens to be investigating.
This one didn't work for me. I was more annoyed at both characters. I also didn't find this funny.
Mace is too pushy and obnoxious. I think Dex was supposed to come off as this strong, kick ass character, but she was just so obnoxious, IMO. I thought quite a few of the characters were in this one (Missy for example). I did like Sissy Mae and her brother Smitty. And I really didn't think the # of times Dez (or any female character) used the word slut/whore to insult or refer to a female's sexual desire(s). The men didn't get that treatment, so just stop it. Lots and lots of sex with very little attention paid to the mystery or the why of Petrov's murder.
Shaw's Tail- 3*
This one was better. Brendon was injured in the last story. Ronnie is tasked with watching over him while he recovers. Still lots of sex. I liked the characters more and didn't find them as obnoxious. I did like Mace and Dez more in this one- probably because they were more in the background and not as in your face.
Brendon used to be a "Breeding Male" of the Pride. I thought this whole idea was weird. Yes, I know they are lion shifters, but they are human too. The whole idea of having children as more of a business arrangement was just weird. (He has a boy and girl with 2 different women).
Maybe I will read more of this series?

SOOOOO many reasons why I didn't like this book, well, the first few pages of the first story any way, couldn't get past page 20... what Lion/man couldn't know where his mate is even if she moved away... um they are suppose to have such great smelling abilities... well, just wasn't what I like, specially since I read these types of books for the OMG look at the hot shifter... can't get into that with a bald lion!!!anyway, someone else can enjoy it!!!

Christmas Pride is about Desiree "Dez" MacDermot, human, meeting a long lost friend Mace Llewellyn, Lion, that is home from the Navy. He has been in love with Dez since grade school and when she moved Mace was devastated and has not seen her since them. Comeing home from the Navy, he goes to his sisters' Pride home and find out there was a killing and he just walks in the door and instantly becomes aware of a scent he hasn't smelled in over 10+ years. I love her books! This book was hot and funny! I couldn't put it down until I was done.
